Christians Teaching Social Responsibility Relationally

GLOBE Community Ministries is a faith-based organization that supports the work of congregations, agencies and educational institutions in the work of preparing youth and young adults for community building and service.  GCM is committed to providing research, development and technical assistance to these organizations that enables them to construct, maintain and enhance their own efforts at working with youth in a variety of communities, especially those under-resourced by traditional institutions.

We can:

  1. custom design a program specifically for a particular church, agency or educational institution
  2. provide training, continuing education or in-service learning opportunities for boards, professional staff and volunteers
  3. develop environmental assessments that determine both the needs and assets of a targeted community
  4. provide for the design,  implementation and support of large scale events designed to reach community, area and regional youth and young adults with the message of community development and empowerment
  5. develop networks of supporting institutions for individual churches, agencies and educational institutions that provide the advantages of partnership and collaboration
  6. help identify ongoing resources for the maintenance of quality programming for youth and young adults

GCM's board and staff are committed Christians, motivated by their faith commitments to work with both religious and nonsectarian entities to prepare young people for service to their communities.  This involves a commitment to education and character development, civic engagement and social service, and the building of communities of nurture and accountability amongst the young people themselves.  To that end, GCM board and staff members model such behavior by serving their communities in such ways as non-profit board service, food and clothing distribution, volunteer work at our own churches, student development at local colleges and universities, computer training and services, urban and regional planning, organizing block parties and activities in the creative arts.  GCM will not offer to others what we do not model ourselves.

GLOBE has already developed partnerships with the Salvation Army, churches in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and several non-profit organizations in providing after school programming, Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, on-site urban missions immersion experiences and youth ministry research and development.  It has offered workshops such as:
